Maybe it’s one of those button downs that isn’t tucked in but still looks great if you leave it out you know the ones, they’re the perfect shirt to take from desk to dinner and make you look like you have your whole outfit planned out even when you don’t. Whatever your go to casual piece might be, we’d love to hear about it!

No matter how much you’re trying to embrace the new, off duty trend, there’s something to be said for the timeless appeal of a suit. And while a well tailored piece can instantly elevate your look, wearing it doesn’t mean you need to button up and keep it that way off the cuff style.

So long as you’ve got a few essential pieces in place (a well fitting dress shirt, for starters), there are plenty of ways to show some personality. Here are three style tips for off duty dressing from our Style Council members:

Men’s fashion has come a long way from the days when wearing anything other than a suit and tie was considered to be a scandalous offense. These days, guys are more concerned with the fit of their clothes rather than the color or pattern. But what does this mean for the average guy? It means that men’s clothing is more versatile and easy to wear than ever before! Whether you’re running errands, going out for drinks with friends, or working from home, there are plenty of off the cuff style looks that offer stylish alternatives to traditional business attire. So don’t worry if your closet doesn’t include a formal suit. You can still look smart and put together by using these 5 simple tips:

1) Keep it casual but polished – Pair your favorite casual button down shirt with dress slacks, chinos or jeans. Add on some dress shoes or boots to give it an elegant touch.

Keep your shirt tucked in. Roll up your sleeves, or if they’re too long, off the cuff style them. Leave the bottom of your shirt untucked to create a more casual look. Wear an untucked collared shirt with a pair of denim jeans for a comfortable yet stylish outfit.

What to Wear to Work:

You don’t have to wear a suit to work and you shouldn’t feel pressured to do so. One of the best ways to dress for an office environment is in a blazer and slacks with a button up shirt underneath, or a dress shirt and trousers. However, if you want something more casual but still professional, wear chinos with a nice button down shirt. To make it look more interesting, fold the sleeves up to your elbows and tuck in the front of your off the cuff style shirt.
