Italian fashion house Moschino is the brainchild of Franco Moschino, who was a famous Italian designer and fashion icon from the 80s to 90s. Born in Turin in 1950, Moschino started his fashion career in Florence at the age of 16 by working as an apprentice with an up-and-coming local fashion house. In 1973, he moved to Milan to pursue his dreams of starting his own fashion label, which he named Moschino. The brand quickly gained fame after it opened its first boutique on Via Monte Napoleone, right next to that of Armani.

The Meaning of  Moschino

The Moschino brand was born in 1983 and designed by the Italian designer Franco Moschino. His mission was to create a brand that highlighted irony and humor, as well as adding a touch of fantasy to fashion. Moschino’s designs are recognized for their originality. Detail. And color. In 1985, he became the creative director of Valentino Garavani’s company and launched his own line in 1986. The majority of the designs. Were manufactured in Italy. With some made in Spain or England. Franco was always fascinated. With Hollywood glamour from stars. Like Marilyn Monroe to Audrey Hepburn. And this translated into his work with sexy dresses of black lace or heavy embroidery. Bright colors, and outrageous details such as feathers or chains.

The History of Moschino

Founded in 1983 by Franco Moschino. His namesake label. Was known for its irreverent. And humorous fashion. In 1990 the company went bankrupt. And was bought by Silvio. Berlusconi’s Fininvest. The label continued to be under. Berlusconi until 1997. When it was purchased by gift. A Dutch holding company. It then went into bankruptcy again in 2003. It was acquired by Kering Group. In 2004 and reestablished with the designer. Jeremy Scott is at the helm. This collection is titled All You Need to Know which means that everything you need is within this collection. It’s a reflection of what we are all searching for: security, love, knowledge, and understanding. Franco Moschino would have been proud of this final collection as he always had something new to offer in each season – whether it be a bomber jacket or an oversized sweater dress!

Spring 2023 Collection

The collection that Moschino presented for the upcoming Spring-Summer season is full of happy, colorful, and glamorous pieces. The white and pink color palette was used. As an accent in many looks. Adding a feminine touch to the otherwise very masculine collection.

The designs were full of different types of materials from lace to leather, making it a perfect choice for those who want to add some more character to their wardrobe.

The silhouettes are mainly structured. With a variety of straight. Cut skirts and trousers, accompanied by shirts with large prints or embroideries. It’s not the first time that Moschino makes use of this trend but they managed to do it in a way that still feels fresh.

The Moschino menswear and womenswear had the same theme in their new collection. They pulled from a variety of cultures and made it work to create a cohesive collection. The colors are bright. But pastel at the same time was done. With purpose by the designers. The clothes were made to be worn now. But pieces like bomber jackets. Were also. Designed. With a nod to the future. When we might need them again. An interesting detail was that many of the outfits were interchangeable. So you can wear one dress as pants or a skirt, or you could have another dress on top for two different looks. It was an easy way for them to get more wear out of each piece without having to use as much fabric.
